So you’ve got the gear: the trunks, the boat, and the Doomswell. But you don’t know what lakes to hit up first. If you’re looking for a place nearby, or an excuse for a weekend trip, no worries. We’ve compiled a list of 10 places across the U.S. and Canada that are perfect for wakesurfing.

Lake Powell

Nestled between Utah and Arizona, Lake Powell isn’t your average lake. Its environment offers up a unique display of sandstone formations reminiscent of the Grand Canyon. Even if you don’t want to spend your whole day wakesurfing, you can hike the nearby areas.

Lake Austin

Deep in the heart of Texas lies Lake Austin, but you may know it by its former name, Lake McDonald. This Texan body of water stems off the Colorado River, and frames the capital city.

Lake Norman

For our east coasters looking for a place to wakesurf, head over to Lake Norman in North Carolina. It’s a short drive from Charlotte, offering you and your entire crew things to do on and off the water.

Lake Tahoe

Joining together California and Nevada is Lake Tahoe. This freshwater lake is the second deepest lake in the States, as well as the sixth largest lake, coming in after the Great Lakes. Not only can you enjoy the area during the warmer months, but you can take in the beauty of the area in the winter for nearby skiing and snowboarding.

Table Rock Lake

In The Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas lies Table Rock Lake. With nearly 80 miles of water, you’ll have plenty of room to explore. Plus, there’s a Doomswell dealer nearby to accommodate your wakesurf needs.

Lake Minnetonka

Up north in Minnesota lies a city that is known for more than just moccasins. Lake Minnetonka is a favorite location within the state, offering up a place to wakesurf within minutes of Minneapolis.

Lake Mead

Nestled between Nevada and Arizona is Lake Mead. This oasis offers you a great place to show off your skills on your Doomswell out in the Silver and Copper States. Plus, you’re not too far from Las Vegas, if you enjoy the night life.

Lake Shasta

Another lake in northern California is Lake Shasta. Fun fact: this lake was the original host of the annual event Boardstock prior to moving to its current location of Clear Lake.

Okanagan Lake

For our neighbors to the north, Okanagan Lake is an excellent spot for wakesurfing. The beautiful blue waters next to the mountains is breathtaking scenery for anyone in British Columbia.

Calabogie Lake

Another Canadian lake, Calabogie Lake, has been dubbed Ottawa’s “best kept secret.” And by the looks of this view, we can see why.
